Biography

Yan Yan, graduated from Peking Union Medical College in 2006 with a Doctor of Medicine degree in Dermatology and Venereology. After graduation, Yan Yan stayed on at the Department of Dermatology, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and worked continuously in clinical, teaching, and research work in dermatology and venereology. In May 2015, Yan Yan transferred to the Department of Dermatology, Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and served as Director of the Department of Dermatology. From 2012 to 2013, Yan Yan conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute of Cutaneous Cell Biology, Kurume University, Japan. From 2015 to 2016, funded by the Milstein Medical Asian American Partnership Foundation, Yan Yan was a visiting scholar in the Department of Dermatology, University of Michigan Medical School, USA. As a principal investigator, Yan Yan has undertaken multiple projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Beijing Natural Science Foundation, International Research Grant of the Faculty of Medicine, Kyushu University, Japan, Startup Fund for Returned Overseas Scholars of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, Major Project Fund of the Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Chinese Medical Association–L'Oréal Chinese Healthy Skin Research Project, and has published more than 50 papers in SCI-indexed and core journals. In 2008, Yan Yan received the Special Contribution Award from Peking Union Medical College Hospital; in 2015, the Dermatology Scholarship from the Milstein Medical Asian American Partnership Foundation; in 2021, the People's Good Doctor (Dermatologic Cosmetology) Young Exemplar Award; and in 2022, the title of the 8th Beijing Outstanding Physician. Yan Yan has served as a Standing Committee Member and Secretary-General of the First Standing Committee of the Dermatologic Cosmetology Branch, Chinese Association of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery; a member of the Cosmetology Group of the 15th Committee of the Dermatology and Venereology Branch, Chinese Medical Association; a member of the Dermatology Professional Committee, Chinese Research Hospital Association; a Standing Council Member and Secretary-General of the Dermatology and Venereology Physicians Branch, Beijing Medical Doctor Association; a review expert of the Beijing Medical Aesthetics Quality Control Center; and an expert in medical malpractice appraisal in Beijing.
Professional Expertise: Facial skin rejuvenation; diagnosis and treatment of facial disfiguring skin disorders such as acne, rosacea, and photoaging, as well as pigmented skin disorders such as melasma, freckles, and senile lentigines.
